West Rowan keeps racking up wins, state championships and spots on The Associated Press All-State prep football team for North Carolina.
For the third straight year, the Falcons followed a state title by placing at least three players on the AP squad. Offensive lineman Charles Holloway, and defensive backs Domonique Noble and Eric Cowan were voted on the 2010 team by 15 sports writers from across the state in results released Wednesday.

Former Butler standout quarterback Christian LeMay officially joined the Georgia Bulldogs practices in the past three days. LeMay missed his senior season at Butler because of violations of CMS Code of Conduct and has been home-schooled this year.

A year ago, in the minutes after the Butler Bulldogs won their first state championship in this same stadium, there was sheer pandemonium as they romped off the field and headed toward the locker rooms. Their screaming, their crying, their perpetual bouncing appeared to emit a sense of relief that they’d finally shaken the dreaded monkey off their shoulder pads, stopped being Independence High’s little football brother and proven to everyone that they were worthy of being state champions.

RALEIGH Jahwan Edwards couldn’t sleep Friday night, so he turned the TV on to BET and hoped he might finally stop thinking about Butler’s Saturday N.C. 4AA championship game against Wake Forest-Rolesville.
BET didn’t work, so Edwards – a 6-foot, 235-pound senior tailback – tossed and turned and stared at his ceiling until 4:45 a.m. He’d asked teammate Austin Stewart to spend the night because Edwards is notoriously late and he wanted to make sure he was ready for his final high school game. This time, Edwards woke up Stewart.
